General Components of an ADA Inspection
-
Parking and Exterior Routes: Inspectors check for accessible parking spaces, proper signage, and accessible routes from parking to the entrance.
-
Entrance Accessibility: Evaluation of entrances to ensure they are accessible, including door width, hardware, and thresholds.
-
Interior Accessibility: Review of interior elements such as corridors, ramps, elevators, and signage to ensure they meet ADA requirements.
-
Restroom Accessibility: Examination of restrooms for accessible stalls, grab bars, sink height, and other features.
-
Public Areas: Assessment of public areas to ensure there are unobstructed pathways, accessible seating, and service areas.
-
Policies and Procedures: While not a physical component, the inspection may also consider the facility's policies and procedures to ensure they accommodate individuals with disabilities.
-
Documentation of Findings: Compiling a detailed report of findings and recommendations for remediation while maintaining the confidentiality of the inspection process
